Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967 at Atlanta. Roberts is part of four generations of the Robertses that live in the Atlanta area, starting by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father took an early interest in theater. When he was a student in Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and in Atlanta. He joined the air force in 1953. During his time working in Biloxi Mississippi, was cast in an army production that featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in Air Force. They married in 1955. Their first baby son Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. In 1957 the couple left the air force and Walter began his studies in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. In 1964 Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on a local children's Saturday morning television program called Bum Bum and His Buddies which they funded by their own. They also established the six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later the same year. Lelisa Billingsley, also known as Lisa was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
